Worth Reading!

First, stay up to date on the most recent posting on NEEP's Efficiency Matters blog! There are recent posts from NSTAR's Penni McLean-Conner on federal lighting standards and from NEEP staff on the benefits of the Massachusetts Green Communities Act and zero net-energy buildings.

We also recommend the following reports from our partner organizations:

  • Maryland PIRG breaks down the benefits from the state's EmPower Maryland energy efficiency programs in its "A Smart Solution" Report, finding that the program has generated $60 million in benefits to consumers and is poised to generate more if the program meets its targets.
  • The Rocky Mountain Institute lists its recommendations for getting deeper and broader savings from utility energy efficiency programs in Turbocharging Energy Efficiency Programs. The report calls out NEEP's Retail Products Initiative for its innovative efforts to help boost savings in the Northeast. You can read more about the report from RMI on their website here.

Finally, clashes over the benefits of the Green Communities Act in our home state, Massachusetts was in the news this week. While we strongly support the law's energy efficiency programs, we encourage you to follow the discussion in Commonwealth Magazine here.
