Boston - Sen. John Kerry today congratulated five Massachusetts organizations for being named as 2010 ENERGY STAR Partners of the Year by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE).

National Grid of Waltham, the Northeast ENERGY STAR Products Initiative of Lexington, the Joint Management Committee of Lexington, OSRAM SYLVANIA of Danvers, and Raytheon Company of Waltham are recognized as proven leaders in protecting the environment by reducing greenhouse gas emissions through energy efficiency.

"These organizations are driving clean energy across Massachusetts. They are proof positive that protecting our environment is also good business. Transforming the way we use energy is key to the region's economy, and vital to helping families and businesses save money," said Kerry.

The ENERGY STAR label can now be found on more than 60 types of products, as well as new homes, schools and commercial buildings. Last year alone ENERGY STAR helped Americans save approximately $19 billion on energy bills and reduce greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to that of 27 million vehicles.
