From Potential to Action: NEEP Releases New England Potential Study
We in the energy efficiency field are always quick to talk about its many benefits – efficiency is much cheaper than new supply, it puts money back in people’s pockets, it helps create good local jobs, it reduces strain on the grid and it curbs greenhouse gas emissions. But how much cost-effective efficiency is out there, where is it, and how do we capture it?

In light of these questions, NEEP commissioned Optimal Energy to conduct an analysis of the region. “From Potential to Action: How New England Can Save Energy, Cut Costs, and Create a Brighter Future with Energy Efficiency” reveals that by 2018, energy efficiency could reduce New England’s electricity needs by about 20 percent of forecasted load, or 31,800 gigaWatt-hours.

The report identifies the sectors and end-uses where the greatest reserves of efficiency lie in each state, and also provides a set of recommendations and best practices for policymakers. In addition, it estimates the total economic and environmental benefits of maximizing the efficiency potential.  We hope that you will download the full report from our website, or take a look at our executive summary.

Join us for a webinar on October 15 at 12:30 pm to learn about the report’s findings and discuss its implications.
