NEEP plans to assess the need for and interest in model guidelines that can eventually be replicated in any state or by health care facilities generally. Specific focus will be on existing buildings in both retrofit and operations and maintenance strategies.
Hospitals similar to schools are often the center of the community and have unique energy profiles. NEEP will work to build energy use in this sector.
NEEP has formed a working group dedicated to the assessment and development of high performance hospital guidelines, with the ultimate goal of all hospitals in the region being built and maintained as energy efficient, healthy facilities that reduce their impact on the environment.
