
Rhode Island has adopted Northeast CHPS as the design standard for school construction in the state.
National Grid runs efficiency programs in Rhode Island for both gas as well as for electricity use. Many of these programs are available to schools, so be sure the check them out.
Through the RIDE Housing Aid Program a school can earn up to an additional 4 percent of funding from the state if it can be shown that 75 percent of the project costs can be attributed to energy efficiency, asbestos abatement, or handicapped accessibility.
