Northeast Retail Products Initiative Earns EPA Sustained Excellence Award

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has awarded Northeast Retail Products Initiative a 2012 ENERGY STAR Sustained Excellence Award in recognition of its continued leadership in protecting our environment through energy efficiency.

Gregory SzarkiewiczThe Northeast Retail Products Initiative is a regional effort, facilitated by NEEP, whose mission is to promote energy efficiency in homes and businesses in the Northeast through regionally coordinated programs that increase the use of ENERGY STAR qualified products, services and practices. For over 11 years, the Initiative has engaged in cost-effective regional activities that promise greater results than an assortment of individual state or service territory efforts could produce alone.

Significant Gains in the Market

Thanks to work happening all over the region, significant gains have been made in all four appliance product categories, achieving a record high amount of ENERGY STAR appliances available in regional market channels.

Top Ten USA

TopTen USA is a nonprofit organization that identifies and publicizes the most energy-efficient products on the market. We make it easy for consumers to find the most energy- and money-saving models, which in turn encourages manufacturing innovations that will make products in the United States even more energy-efficient.

Northeast Residential Lighting Strategy

Following the 2010 Residential Lighting Workshop NEEP convened a group of professionals to serve as the advisory group for the development of a Northeast Residential Lighting Strategy that would that could be utilized in residential lighting program plans through 2020. A subsequent 2011 Residential Lighting Workshop was held to further define the strategy elements - still in process, the final document is expected to be completed by September 2011.

Consumer Electronics Summit - Advanced Power Strips

NEEP aids energy efficiency program planning, design and evaluation by bringing together stakeholders to identify energy savings in certain consumer electronics.

We recently convened a stakeholder summit in Albany that included a delegation from around the globe who participated in tackling the barriers to maximizing the savings in advanced power strips (APS).
