The Solid State Lighting Market

Solid state lighting (SSL) technology is rapidly moving into the mainstream market for several applications.  Objective awareness of research and development; comprehension and use of products in the lab and field; and strategic deployment within the marketplace and efficiency programs are all necessary to overcome market introduction barriers.

NEEP's SSL Initiative pursues the longer-term goals of accurate knowledge of the technology and deployment of it by seeking to:
1. Deepen regional knowledge and awareness of SSL issues, opportunities and challenges;
2. Develop strategies for deployment of SSL as appropriate into NEEP Initiatives and Policy activities;
3. Maintain and enhance electronic information dissemination infrastructure.

PROJECTS within the SSL Initiative

NEEP maintains a technical information network for solid state lighting (TINSSL) to serve lighting contractors, building owners, building managers, building code officials, and energy efficiency program administrators (i.e., utilities, state agencies and energy efficiency organizations).To find out more click on the Projects tab on the left.
