STANDARDIZED EM&V METHODS REPORTING FORMS - What's in your EM&V Genome

Standardized EM&V Methods Reporting Forms - What's in Your EM&V Genome?

January 13, 2015

The Regional EM&V Forum will be holding this one-day workshop to provide training and information on its recently developed Standardized EM&V Methods Reporting Forms, adopted by the Forum Steering Committee this past summer. This workshop will review the two standard forms (study and program level), and will guide attendees through the process of completing the forms using real examples of studies and programs, and guide interactive discussions regarding: (1) inputting data, (2) interpreting the data in completed forms, and (3) potential future uses of the forms as inputs to an EM&V database or for EPA 111(d) compliance reporting requirements.  The workshop will also provide examples of how the forms can be used to support the US DOE Uniform Methods Project EE Savings Protocols

Speakers:

  • Julie Michals, NEEP
  • Michael Li, US DOE

Trainers:

  • Arlis Reynolds, Cadmus Group

WORKSHOP AGENDA

Introduction to the Standardized EM&V Methods Reporting Project and Forms. The workshop will start off with a review of the Forum project history and objectives, the intended use of the forms, and a walk-through version 1.0 of EM&V methods reporting forms for both impact evaluation studies (the study-level form) and energy-efficiency programs (the program-level form).  NEEP will discuss the process for developing the forms including the most challenging components, as well considerations for potential future development and uses of the forms for statewide, regional, or national reporting requirements.

Interactive Exercise – Populating both Forms Using Examples of Real Studies and Programs. Cadmus will present two examples of impact evaluations and energy-efficiency programs based upon experience with pilot states that have begun to use the forms, and will work with the attendees to complete blank study-level and program-level forms using the information provided.  Workshop attendees can follow along using paper-based forms or may complete web-forms on their own computers.  This session will include a break for lunch.

Discuss State Use of the Forms and Future Developments.  After the workshop exercises of completing the forms, speakers and attendees will revisit the discussion of how the forms may be used to satisfy EM&V reporting requirements in different contexts, including introducing the pilot states from region that have agreed to test the forms. The workshop leaders will then present next steps to develop a supporting database to store completed forms, and provide an overview of the potential functionality and features of such a database and invite feedback from the audience.
