Business Leaders for Energy Efficiency save the Northeast Millions

Organizations Recognized for Commitment to Achieving Significant Energy Savings

Lexington, MA, March 25, 2010 - Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnerships (NEEP) is recognizing 13 regional organizations as ‘Business Leaders for Energy Efficiency' for their outstanding efforts to advance energy efficiency at the Northeast Energy Efficiency Summit in Boston, MA on March 31. Together, these organizations have achieved a cumulative annual cost savings of over $4.5 million by investing in energy efficiency measures throughout their organization.

The Northeast Business Leaders for Energy Efficiency recognition program highlights the accomplishments of organizations that are participating in energy efficiency programs across the region. This year's honorees, made up of manufacturers, universities, a public authority and one restaurant, were selected for recognition based on their commitment to:

• Achieve energy savings through investment in cost efficient measures;
• Address comprehensive changes in major energy systems such as lighting, HVAC, building envelope, office equipment and industrial processes, with a focus on improvements in multiple fuel categories;
• Continue improvements in energy performance through management level support and operational practices; and
• Demonstrate leadership to advance energy efficiency and to promote its benefits within the community.

"NEEP is proud to recognize this year's Business Leaders and their nominating sponsors," said Sue Coakley, Executive Director of NEEP. "The significant savings that these organizations have achieved impact the region on a much larger scale. The more energy we save the more we keep energy costs down across the region. The Business Leaders program demonstrates the phenomenal benefits of energy efficiency to an organization's bottom line and shows the value of collaborating with energy efficiency programs to achieve those benefits. The program also illustrates to policy makers and businesses the important role of energy efficiency in reaching economic and environmental goals for the Northeast."
