Despite some recent challenges in regulatory restrictions and program coordination, New York offers a great opportunity for energy efficiency and clean energy work for its customers. Hot on the heels of winning the 2014 NCAA Men’s Hockey Championship, Union College undertook a comprehensive portfolio of energy efficiency projects. On a campus committed to sustainability, this means more than replacing lights. The college used engineering students to analyze projects and calculate returns, the facilities staff looked for innovative ways to power older buildings, and the leadership supported these initiatives as part of an overall campus pledge.
