R&D Connector: Buildings as Grid Assets

In order to fully realize the benefits of a more modern energy infrastructure, buildings must evolve to become capable and willing partners with the evolving grid. Grid-interactive efficient buildings (GEBS) – buildings with a holistic blend of distributed generation, energy storage solutions, and smart devices that respond both to grid reliability and customer needs – are beginning to become reality. At the Buildings as Grid Assets workshop, we’ll take a look at current state of grid interactive buildings on both a regional and national level. We’ll also explore exciting opportunities to advance GEBs in an effort to meet growing regional needs for flexible customer loads. Key stakeholders will include federal program representatives, energy efficiency program administrators, implementation experts, research and development professionals, manufacturers, and facility managers.
