Hy-Ten Plastics is a small family-owned business that has supplied custom plastic injection molding supplies to the medical, military, electronic, industrial and consumer industries for 40 years. To maintain their competitive edge, Hy-Ten Plastics is committed to producing high quality products at reduced costs.
Since 2002, Hy-Ten Plastics has partnered with Public Service of New Hampshire (PSNH) to identify and implement energy efficiency measures that have reduced operating costs, increased productivity, maintained competitive prices for customers and reduced their impact on the environment. Among the improvements are:
- Replacement of hydraulic injection molding machines with high efficiency electric equipment;
- Installation of high efficiency lighting systems;
- Installation of premium efficiency motors with variable frequency drives;
- Deployment of an innovative resin drying system that uses compressed air rather than electric resistance heat; and
- Replacement of an air compressor with a higher efficiency rotary screw machine and variable frequency drive.
Despite a continuing rise in energy costs, the combined impact of these measures have saved Hy-Ten Plastics more than 65 percent on their annual energy costs.
Hy-Ten Plastics has embraced the philosophy of “going green” in all aspects of their business. The company conducts an on-going awareness campaign to educate all staff and production personnel about the facility’s recycling goals. Strict shut down procedures have been implemented as well to ensure that all equipment and lighting is turned off when the facility is not in use.
