King Kullen has participated in the Long Island Power Authority’s (LIPA) Clean Energy Initiative since 1999. All King Kullen facilities have achieved significant savings by retrofitting stores with high efficiency lighting technologies, incorporating energy efficiency electric technologies into new construction plans, and by conducting load management and peak load reduction programs.
As a result, King Kullen has reduced its annual energy consumption by 20-25 percent and has achieved an annual cost savings of over $2 million.
