Founded in 1947, Positive Promotions specializes in creating promotional and motivational items for the education, health/wellness and safety fields. By focusing on these specific markets, they stay in constant touch with their customers’ unique needs. This gives their award-winning design staff the ability to come up with vibrantly appealing products that make their customers' awareness, education and incentive programs successful.
Seeking ways to become environmentally friendly and reduce overall operating costs, the company consulted with Long Island Power Authority (LIPA). What initially began as a small lighting project evolved into a comprehensive commitment to replace all lighting (more than 2,000 fixtures) and 30 rooftop HVAC units as well as install an energy management system that controls building operations.
In 2010, Positive Promotion’s project was the highest grossing energy saving effort affiliated with LIPA’s Commercial Efficiency Program (CEP), yielding roughly 1.5 MWh of energy savings. The improved lighting levels also led to increased productivity and even enhanced color rendering for Positive Promotions’ product line – an essential element of its printing business.
The company’s senior managers viewed going “green” to be not only environmentally responsible – but also as a key customer benefit, as more clients ask about green policies. With LIPA’s help, the company is looking into installing programmable thermostats, motion sensors, outdoor lighting timers and weather sealing for loading areas.
These efforts have helped to keep Positive Promotions operating in Long Island, all the while helping them grow their business by becoming more productive and competitive.
