Trinity Financial is a Boston based real estate development firm that specializes in the production of affordable housing. While many of Trinity’s redevelopment projects incorporate energy efficiency measures, one of the most outstanding examples of this is Maverick Landing, located on the East Boston waterfront.
Completed in 2007, Maverick Landing replaced 413 distressed, tenement style housing units with an energy efficient mixed level housing development. The mid-rise portion of the Maverick Landing complex is slated to receive Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) for Homes certification. Energy efficiency features in the mid-rise include fiberglass windows, high efficiency heating and water heating equipment, an energy management system, increased wall and roof insulation, cogeneration, and ENERGY STAR lights and appliances. The project also included renewable energy in the form of a photovoltaic array.
The energy efficiency and renewable measures have combined to produce a 20 percent energy cost savings in the Maverick Landing complex.
