
Yiran joined NEEP in the summer of 2023 as Policy and Programs Senior Associate. In this role, she conducts qualitative and quantitative research to provide technical assistance to regional partners on advancing energy efficiency policies, engages with stakeholder working groups, and tracks state-level efficiency and decarbonization work in the NEEP region.
Prior to joining NEEP, Yiran worked as a contractor with the World Bank, working on analyzing the impacts of COVID-19 on energy use and emissions from various industrial sectors in 31 countries. Yiran also worked as a researcher for the MIT-Harvard Roosevelt Project and studied region-specific pathways for deep decarbonization. Her Master of Science research in MIT’s Technology and Policy Program was conducted with MIT’s Environmental Solutions Initiative, which focused on community engagement and development in ongoing energy and economic transitions occurring in rural Appalachian generational coal mining communities. Yiran also holds a Bachelor of Science degree from MIT in Materials Science & Engineering (Course 3) and Science, Technology, & Society (STS).
