Driven by a longstanding interest in climate policy and equitable economic development, Amaris Greene joined NEEP in January 2026 as a Policy Research Intern. She now serves as an Associate on the Policy and Programs team, where she contributes quantitative and qualitative research to NEEP’s rate design initiatives, supports regional decarbonization efforts, and helps coordinate stakeholder collaboration.
Prior to joining NEEP, Amaris worked in the nonprofit sector supporting sustainability and clean energy initiatives, including Mass Save’s Community First Partnership. During her graduate studies, she collaboratively designed an RCT, in consultation with the Government of Meghalaya, India, to promote participation in environmental governance. Earlier, Amaris engaged her commitment to public service and advocacy through her internship with the Office of U.S. Senator Ed Markey.
Amaris holds a B.A. in Global Studies from Loyola University Maryland, with minors in Environmental Studies and History, and an M.A. in Global Policy from Boston University with a specialization in Environmental Policy.

Q: If you weren't working at NEEP, what other job would you have?
A: I'd like to start a bookstore and specialty coffee shop, bringing together my love of reading and sustainably sourced coffee.
Q: What's something about you that would surprise us?
A: I have visited the Arctic three times—the first during a 10-day landscape photography tour and camping trip.
