NEEP mourns last week's passing of Laura McNaughton and celebrates the many ways she contributed to advance residential energy efficiency.

In her role as the Director of Residential Energy Efficiency Programs at New England Electric (now National Grid), and earlier in her career with the non-profit Fair Share Corporation, she touched many lives with her tireless energy, enthusiasm, willingness to innovate, and passion for equity in providing energy efficiency to residential consumers.

In just its second year, Energy Efficiency Day has made incredible strides forward in raising awareness of money-saving habits, products, and lifestyle choices to consumers. What started as an idea between a handful of efficiency-minded organizations, Energy Efficiency Day grew in 2017 to involve hundreds of companies, non-profits, academic organizations, and utilities, along with dozens of state and local governments.

Every year, without fail, when late September rolls around, I’m fascinated by the vibrant red and gold colors that paint the trees. As a life-long New Yorker, my transition to life in New England has been made easier by the familiar natural beauty that captivates us during the fall season. Luckily, I got to experience New England’s fall foliage at its peak in Meredith, New Hampshire for NEEP’s annual High Performance Schools Summit.
