In early December we wrote this post about two resources for developing the clean energy workforce. As a new directory for Vermont is launched today, we've updated the post to provide up to date links to these resources.
As the economy continues to stumble, more states are accelerating their energy efficiency and clean energy programs to create jobs, save money and save energy. The need for a highly skilled and professional workforce to implement these programs successfully is rapidly expanding.
Massachusetts and Vermont are leading the region to provide online one-stop-shops for the public to find training and education opportunities in the clean energy sector. The Massachusetts Clean Energy Careers Training and Education Directory (The directory) launched early this year and the Vermont Clean Energy Careers Training and Education Directory will be launching this month.
Massachusetts
The Massachusetts Clean Energy Careers Training and Education Directory is a comprehensive list of approximately 150 programs and resources at more than 80 institutions across the state. The innovative directory, the first of its kind in the state, is a collaborative effort between NEEP, the New England Clean Energy Council and the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center. The directory provides information on programs offered by public and private colleges and universities, private training providers, vocational and technical schools, community based organizations and grant funded programs.
After the first 11 months, the directory has quickly become a successful network connecting energy efficiency and renewable energy industry professionals, jobs seekers, and students with education and training opportunities throughout the Commonwealth.
As the clean energy sector continues to grow so too will training needs. The directory is the perfect resource for meeting this growth and is constantly updated to provide accurate and complete listings.
Vermont
NEEP and the New England Clean Energy Council have jointly developed a Vermont Clean Energy Careers Training and Education Directory for the Vermont Department of Labor, the Central Vermont Community Action Council and the Workforce Development Council.
The Directory is a comprehensive, up-to-date list of approximately 90 programs and resources at more than 44 institutions across the state. As more programs and resources emerge, the Directory will be updated to provide accurate and complete listings. It is the first of its kind in the state, and provides information on programs offered by public and private colleges and universities, private training providers, vocational and technical schools, community based organizations and grant funded programs.
